At the fall of Phobos at the end of the War of Shadows, several new calendar systems were introduced. The War of Shadows had ruptured the delicate balance of Erasan's sun system, thus even changing the length of days and nights and years, making any previous calendars inaccurate. Of the various calendars which became adopted, the Emposian Calendar (formerly known as the Lionelian Calendar) eventually became the standard across Aerath.

Year 0 in the Emposian calendar marks the fall of Phobos and the start of the current age. The suffix "CA" (for Common Age or Current Age) is often used after the year to mark that it is the new calendar (e.g. 1000 CA).
