THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE

Happy with his previous victory against the hare, the tortoise wondered if perhaps the hare had learnt any lessons from their previous challenge. So after some time pondering, the tortoise decided that it was about time to give the hare a chance to redeem himself. The tortoise beckoned to the hare and plodded slowly and carefully towards a nearby wind blossom tree. Petals from the wind blossom tree were falling from its flowers when tickled by even the lightest of breezes, spiralling down unpredictably onto the ground far below.

The tortoise looked up at the hare, who was now somewhat irritable having been made to wait for the tortoise to crawl towards the tree. The challenge the tortoise suggested was simple.
"Catch a single petal falling from this tree before it touches the ground."
After his previous failing, the hare was eager to show himself superior. So immediately he agreed and began to scamper around madly underneath the tree; desperately leaping and bounding after the petals as they fell. However unable to catch any of the petals, the hare quickly began to tire and grow frustrated. Still impatiently snatching at the falling petals, the hare turned to the tortoise.
"Are you trying to make fun of me?", said the hare,

glowering at the tortoise who was sitting calmly below the tree, barely even taking any notice of the hare's antics.
"Not at all", the tortoise replied. And at that moment, a single petal falling from the tree happened to land upon the back of the smiling tortoise.
